I’m glad to be home.
Ireland is magical, but six weeks away is a long time.
It was a fabulous adventure filled with laughter, good times, and so many photographs.
I returned to my roots in many different ways, both literally and figuratively. (The image above is from my cousin Sheila’s house…..one of her outbuildings on the farm which has been in the family for over a hundred years.)
I have a newfound interest in going back to basics: eating food close to the land, buying quality handcrafted items, and engaging with people—whether through conversation or a wave as you pass on the road.
The world is changing rapidly, and I’m finding it hard to catch my breath as I see AI everywhere, helping me write a book in five minutes, create a year’s worth of emails at once, or making me rich.
But really? I’m an artist. It’s important for me to create my own work, write my own emails, and design my own courses, thoughtfully choosing how to express myself. Sure, it’s a struggle sometimes, but that’s part of being human. Today, more than ever, we need connection. We need to find the humanness in life.
I’ve dabbled in AI, but it never resonates with me. I like when things are messy, imperfect, and beautiful all at once. I enjoy the blend of old and new, with the past refusing to be ignored while existing alongside the present. Every piece of work I create is handmade by me. I can’t imagine it any other way.
All I know is how to be myself, with all my beauty, wonderfulness, flaws, imperfections, and messy ideas. I think we need to see it all. That is what being an artist is about.
With all good wishes,
